Execution Desk Trader

DEPARTMENT/TEAM: Supply & Trading

The Execution Desk trader has several duties including, hedging all physical flow, act as an internal/external market maker and derivatives trade strategy. The Execution Desk trader is responsible for developing trading plans to best hedge the company’s exposure, analyse the paper market for inefficiencies and hedging the price risk of the books within their region by working closely with the Supply and Sales teams.


  • Trade within the company’s policies.
  • Leverage from the flow of business to generate additional P&L.
  • Provide Hedging Instruments liquidity for internal Users.
  • Provide liquidity for medium/long term Risk Management Sales.
  • Develop US/EU/Singapore markets trading knowledge and look at paper arb opportunities.
  • Fundamental/technical Analysis and News.
  • Differential analysis / percentile analysis.
  • Be the main point wit supply desk/product control for bunker deals hedging allocation/internal moves.
  • Month End Reconciliation (with Stock/HD book management) with Product Control on Realised P&L –Strategy book + HD & SPEU.
  • Assess access to trade derivatives with the External Market.
  • Maintain the internal swaps page up to date / Pricer Rolling at Month End.
  • Provide Hedging instruments liquidity for external counterparts.
  • Non financing EFP flow management.
  • Bunker deal (non contract) Cancellations & Amendments Helpdesk.
  • Bunker deals FX management.
  • Derivatives counterparty trading management.



  • Business level of English language essential.
  • Confident individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Persuasive and influential by nature, a highly effective negotiator able to ‘think on your feet’.
  • High level of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to swiftly express key information to facilitate line manager / Regional Head decision making.
  • High level of commercial acumen, able to think analytically and strategically and understand the wider business context.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and towards shared goals but equally able to work independently with a minimal level of supervision.
  • Ambitious, self-motivated and demonstrating a willingness to continually develop own knowledge and skills.
  • Highlevel of computer literacy including proficiency of MS Office package and able to work with CRM systems.
  • Risk management skills, understanding price risk and how to manage it.
  • Physical and paper understanding to better manage the potential exposures generated.
  • Experience in a Front or Middle office role.
  • Knowledge of Fuel oil and the Bunker Industry essential.
  • Experience in trading platforms.
  • Experience with reuters/bloomberg/marketview platforms


  • Knowledge of other languages is desirable.
