Peninsula proudly joined forces with the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) and Wavelink Group to host a Maritime Discovery and Decarbonisation Day, an initiative aimed at inspiring and educating youths from underprivileged backgrounds about the maritime industry and its journey toward sustainability.
At Peninsula, we recognise that our work is powered by the dedication and expertise of skilled seafarers. Supporting youth education and maritime awareness is our way of honouring these professionals while encouraging the next generation to explore rewarding careers in shipping.
In collaboration with Children’s Wishing Well, we welcomed 18 enthusiastic students from schools across Singapore to the Wavelink Maritime Institute for a day of hands-on learning, career insights, and interactive fun.
Event Highlights
- Inspiring Stories: Young seafarers shared their personal journeys and experiences at sea.
- Bridge Simulator Experience: Students stepped into the role of Captain or Deck Officer, navigating simulated sea conditions from calm waters to thunderstorms.
- EcoShip Fuel Game: Developed by Peninsula, this engaging activity sparked conversations around decarbonisation and the future of sustainable shipping.
The event drew praise from observers including the Singapore Maritime Foundation and Ministry of Education, who commended the students’ enthusiasm and highlighted the professionalism and creativity behind the EcoShip Fuel Game.
A Shared Commitment
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners SMOU, WMI, and Children’s Wishing Well, as well as key contributors for making this event meaningful and memorable.
As the maritime industry accelerates toward decarbonisation, Peninsula remains committed to making sustainability and maritime careers accessible and exciting for the next generation.
