Peninsula was proud to participate in International Energy Week 2026 in London, one of the most significant gatherings in the global energy calendar, bringing together senior leaders from across the marine, logistics and energy sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of energy.
The week commenced with the IBIA Gala Dinner, where an array of Peninsula colleagues were in attendance alongside industry peers from across the global bunkering community. The evening marked a particularly proud moment for Peninsula, as our Head of Global Operations, Jeroen de Vos, was officially appointed Vice Chair of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), recognising both his leadership and Peninsula’s continued commitment to supporting the development of the bunkering industry.
Earlier in the week, Peninsula’s Hedging Desk hosted a breakfast with existing and prospective derivatives counterparts, providing a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange views on market dynamics and strengthen relationships at the start of International Energy Week.
Throughout the week, Peninsula colleagues Miguel Gutierrez and Maria Angeles Lopez, from the Sustainability team, attended several high-level conference sessions featuring some of the most influential voices in global energy.
They highlighted that keynote speaker Stella Li of BYD presented the company’s advanced logistics technologies, including developments in container shipping, with a strong focus on system-wide connectivity and the decarbonisation of land transport integrated with maritime supply chains. Her insights underscored how coordinated technological innovation can accelerate emissions reductions across logistics.
The team also attended a session led by Catherine MacGregor, CEO of ENGIE, who outlined the company’s strategy and emphasised the role of biogas alongside renewables in decarbonising the power sector, reinforcing the importance of diversified energy pathways in achieving global climate targets.
In addition, Maria Angeles and Miguel engaged in discussions with Patricia Espinosa, CEO of onepoint5, on regulatory outlooks and alignment with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C objective. These exchanges generated practical ideas to further enhance Peninsula’s operational efficiency and strengthen its sustainability KPIs as the company advances its energy transition strategy.
A key highlight of the week was Peninsula’s own reception, which welcomed more than 700 stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and industry partners. The event provided an excellent opportunity to meet, exchange perspectives, strengthen relationships and reconnect with partners from across the global marine energy community.
Peninsula’s presence throughout International Energy Week reflects its ongoing commitment to engaging with the industry, supporting its development and contributing to the transition towards a more efficient and sustainable energy future.
