Supporting Symplefsi
Delivering Healthcare and Hope to Remote Greek Islands
In May 2025, Peninsula proudly fuelled Symplefsi’s mission, a remarkable volunteer-led initiative bringing essential healthcare and support to some of Greece’s most remote island communities.
Over the course of the mission, more than 100 volunteers and 12 boats travelled across the Aegean to reach seven isolated islands. Together, they carried out 1,087 medical examinations for 624 residents, spanning over 20 medical specialties.
Beyond medical care, the mission also brought communities together through cultural events and educational workshops for both children and adults, enriching lives and strengthening connections across the islands.
Symplefsi, a nonprofit organisation, is dedicated to improving living conditions in Greece’s remote islands through free healthcare services, infrastructure projects, and educational and cultural programmes.
At Peninsula, we’re proud to stand behind initiatives that make a tangible difference to people and communities — especially those connected to the sea. After all, the ocean is our office.
The Mission to Seafarers
Around the world, The Mission to Seafarers provides help and support to the 1.5 million men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.
The Mission to Seafarers work in over 260 ports caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Through a global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers they offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.
Piracy, shipwreck, abandonment and separation from loved ones are just a few of the problems merchant seafarers face. In an emergency, the MtS is often the only help on offer. No matter what problem a seafarer is facing, be it injury, abandonment, non-payment of wages or personal difficulties, they know they can turn to the local Mission for help, advice and support.
The Mission to Seafarers was founded in 1856 and is entirely funded by voluntary donations.
Sea2See
Peninsula has partnered up with Sea2See to help reduce plastics in our oceans and to create products which will benefit society.
Since 2015, Sea2Sea’s objective has been to create a global consciousness with regards to the issues of ocean plastic contamination and the unsustainable optical and fashion industry. They have pioneered a seastainable change in the eyewear industry proving that marine plastic waste is a great source of raw material. They don’t just produce glasses or watches, but a statement of change, which can be worn by anybody willing to stand for our Oceans.
