Peninsula supports local and international initiatives

Delivering Healthcare and Hope to Remote Greek Islands

In May 2025, Peninsula proudly fuelled Symplefsi’s mission, a remarkable volunteer-led initiative bringing essential healthcare and support to some of Greece’s most remote island communities.

Over the course of the mission, more than 100 volunteers and 12 boats travelled across the Aegean to reach seven isolated islands. Together, they carried out 1,087 medical examinations for 624 residents, spanning over 20 medical specialties.

Beyond medical care, the mission also brought communities together through cultural events and educational workshops for both children and adults, enriching lives and strengthening connections across the islands.

Symplefsi, a nonprofit organisation, is dedicated to improving living conditions in Greece’s remote islands through free healthcare services, infrastructure projects, and educational and cultural programmes.

At Peninsula, we’re proud to stand behind initiatives that make a tangible difference

The Nautilus Project to restore Gibraltar’s marine ecosystem

Peninsula is proud to support The Nautilus Project, a Gibraltar-based marine conservation initiative dedicated to protecting and restoring the local underwater environment.

Founded by marine biologist Lewis Stagnetto, The Nautilus Project focuses on restoring native seagrass meadows that have declined significantly in Gibraltar’s waters over recent years. These seagrass habitats play a vital role in maintaining marine biodiversity, providing shelter and breeding grounds for a wide range of species, including fish and seahorses, while also contributing to the overall health and balance of the marine ecosystem.

Through this partnership, Peninsula is supporting the cultivation of seagrass in controlled nursery environments, before it is carefully transplanted into the sea to help re-establish these essential habitats. In addition to supporting marine life, seagrass also acts as an important natural carbon sink, helping to capture and store carbon and contributing to wider environmental sustainability efforts.

As a company with deep roots in Gibraltar and a long-standing connection to the marine environment, Peninsula recognises the importance of protecting the waters in which we operate. Supporting The Nautilus Project reflects our commitment to responsible environmental stewardship and to contributing positively to the local community.

This partnership forms part of Peninsula’s broader approach to sustainability, which includes supporting initiatives that protect marine ecosystems and promote long-term environmental resilience.

We are honoured to work alongside The Nautilus Project and to contribute to the restoration of Gibraltar’s underwater environment for future generations.

The ocean is our office, and we are committed to protect it.

Supporting football and community wellbeing through partnership with the Gibraltar Football Association

Sport plays an important role in promoting wellbeing, encouraging teamwork and bringing communities together. Peninsula supports the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) as part of its commitment to encouraging active lifestyles and contributing to initiatives that have a positive impact across the community.

Through this partnership, Peninsula sponsors football programmes at every level of the game, from grassroots and youth development to domestic competitions, senior leagues and Gibraltar’s National Teams. The sponsorship also extends to community initiatives, including veterans and elderly leagues, helping to ensure that football remains inclusive and accessible to people of all ages.

Peninsula is also the title sponsor of Gibraltar’s premier domestic knockout competition, the Peninsula Rock Cup, which brings together men’s, women’s and youth teams and represents an important part of Gibraltar’s football calendar.

By supporting the Gibraltar FA and its wide range of programmes, Peninsula is helping to create opportunities for participation, personal development and community engagement. Sport can play an important role in supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, while also fostering a strong sense of connection among individuals and communities.

Peninsula is proud to support initiatives that encourage participation in sport and deliver lasting benefits beyond the pitch.

Peninsula & the University of Gibraltar: A Partnership Shaping Future Seafarers

In 2025, Peninsula and the University of Gibraltar strengthened their long-term collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on advancing maritime education, training, and research in Gibraltar. This formal agreement laid the groundwork for a shared vision: to support high‑quality learning opportunities for the next generation of maritime professionals.

A key outcome of this partnership is the Peninsula Maritime Simulation Suite, a cutting-edge facility funded by Peninsula. Designed to enhance cadet training and professional development, it supports the University’s goal of building a world-class Maritime Simulation Centre and enables cadets to complete the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency–required simulation training for their career progression.

Featuring advanced Wärtsilä simulation technology, the suite offers highly realistic training scenarios and dedicated modules for both University cadets and Peninsula crew.

Through this partnership, we’re committed to strengthening Gibraltar’s maritime capability and investing in the future talent that will drive the industry forward.

Peninsula Racing: Powered by Passion, Driven by Excellence

At Peninsula, we believe in partnering with teams that embody ambition, teamwork, and worldclass performance. Our longstanding sponsorship of the Peninsula sailing team reflects exactly that spirit.

Led by owner and skipper John A. Bassadone, Peninsula Racing made its debut on the global stage at the 2010 RC44 World Championships in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote. What began as a bold first step into one of the most competitive circuits in international sailing has since grown into a story of relentless drive and continuous progression.

Over the years, the team has competed shouldertoshoulder with the best in the RC44 Championship Tour, racing in iconic locations around the world and consistently raising the bar for performance, teamwork, and innovation on the water. Their commitment to excellence mirrors our own values, making this partnership a natural fit.

Today, Peninsula Racing stands as a dynamic symbol of our company’s energy, global outlook, and determination to stay ahead of the wind. Through this sponsorship, we proudly support a crew that inspires us with every tack, gybe, and finish line crossed.

Peninsula Racing isn’t just a team; it’s a statement of who we are. We’re proud to sail forward together.
