Hedging Desk Controls Analyst

SUMMARY

The Hedging Desk Controls Analyst has several duties including, controlling the company’s exposure to flat price risk and differential and time spread risks. Hedging Desk Controls Analyst is responsible for developing the processes and procedures to control the company’s exposure, analyse the market and keeping the hedging desk and the book managers up to date with the latest news in order to best hedge the exposures generated. This role would suit someone with previous experience in risk management.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Calculate and help control the company’s exposure to price risk
• Help in controlling Intraday and Overnight Exposures
• Assist in controlling the open FFPs
• Develop internal processes and procedure while improving current ones
• Keep the team up to date with the latest relevant news affecting the
markets
• Write oil reports to be distributed internally and externally
• Calculate a daily VAR/Stress test of the company’s position
• Assist in the counterparty derivatives onboarding process
• Market Analysis
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Business level of English language essential
• Confident individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Persuasive and influential by nature, a highly effective negotiator able to ‘think
on your feet’
• High level of ownership and accountability
• Ability to swiftly express key information to facilitate line manager / Regional
Head decision making
• High level of commercial acumen, able to think analytically and strategically
and understand the wider business context
• Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and towards shared goals but
equally able to work independently with a minimal level of supervision
• Ambitious, self-motivated and demonstrating a willingness to continually
develop own knowledge and skills
• High level of computer literacy including proficiency of MS Office package and
able to work with CRM systems
• Risk management skills, understanding price risk and how to manage it
• Physical and paper understanding to better manage the potential exposures
generated
• Experience in a Middle office role
• Knowledge of the oil/Energy/Maritime Industry essential
• Experience with reuters/bloomberg/marketview platforms

Desirable
• Knowledge of other languages is desirable
