Peninsula CEO John A. Bassadone Featured on Bloomberg.

Peninsula’s Founder and CEO, John A. Bassadone, was recently featured on Bloomberg TV in a special report on Gibraltar, where he reaffirmed Peninsula’s position as one of the world’s largest physical suppliers of marine fuels and one of the few companies globally that controls the full marine fuel supply chain end-to-end.

During the interview, John A. Bassadone highlighted the rapid evolution of the global bunker industry and the growing importance of Peninsula’s mission: to provide customers with reliable, innovative and sustainable energy solutions whenever and wherever they are needed, through a fully integrated global supply network.

John A. Bassadone explained that over the past 18 months Peninsula has been developing its long-term strategic growth plan, recently announced internally, structured around three core pillars:

1. Customer Centricity

The customer remains at the heart of everything Peninsula does. The company is focused on delivering the best possible bunkering experience by providing tailored, high-quality fuel solutions that address each client’s operational challenges. With decades of market expertise, Peninsula continues to deepen dialogue with customers and translate their evolving needs into enhanced services across its global network.

2. Technology

Digitalisation and smart technology are increasingly critical to the efficiency, transparency and safety of bunker operations. Peninsula already leverages advanced digital tools to enhance the customer experience and is investing in strategic technology partnerships to further optimise operations. The company aspires to be a leader in digital marine energy solutions, recognising that technology will play an increasingly central role in the future of the bunker industry.

3. Sustainability

As international regulation accelerates the transition to lower-carbon shipping, Peninsula is committed to supporting customers throughout their decarbonisation journey. LNG is identified as key transitional fuel, supported by Peninsula’s established trading, logistics and supply infrastructure. Through its dedicated Alternative Fuels and team, the company is actively evaluating all viable pathways towards net zero, underpinned by a clear commitment to protecting the oceans in which it operates.

A major milestone in this strategy is Peninsula’s LNG bunkering joint venture with Enagás, including the construction of a new LNG bunkering vessel in Korea, announced last year. This is a landmark project for both Peninsula and the wider marine energy industry, and marks the beginning of Peninsula’s broader expansion of alternative fuel supply capabilities worldwide.
